Fisherman`s cooperative Lanterna is comprised of about 100 fisherman and cooperant`s from Pula, Rovinj, Umag, Labin in Istria, Croatia. With ten purse seine boats, fifty trawlers and forty smaller fisherman constantly active we can guarantee a continuous supply of small pelagic and white (demersal) fish throughout the year. On weekly basis we supply our buyers with approximately 10 -15 tons of fish.

  The most important small pelagic species in our assortment  are sardines (Lat. Sardina Pilchardus), anchovies (Lat. Engraulis Encrasicholus), chub mackerel (lat. Scomber Japonicus), bogues (Lat. Boops Boops) while musky octopuss (lat. Eledone Moschata), sole (Lat. Solea Vulgaris), red mullet (lat. Mullus Barbatus and Mullus Surmuletus) and hake (Lat. Merluccius Merluccius) represent most important white fish species for our fisherman. Also, potential lays in crab fishing wich are sold on the market live or as a product.

In 2007. Ministry of agriculture declared Lanterna as a pilot for Producer Organization and also we successfully finished  PHARE 2005. Based on PHARE 2005 project  during the 2008. Lanterna received equipment for the primary proccessing of fresh and frozen fish and fishery  products. The equipment includes the following machinery: Filleting machine for white fish, filleting machine for small pelagic fish, curling and washing machine, vacuum machine, vacuum cleaning machine for fish, scallops and crabs, scalling machine, manual scalling machine, decapitator, tunel for deep freezing (3t/24h) and equipment for crab and scallop stocking. This equipment helped us to widen our already large assortment but most importantly it helped us to open new markets and new customers.

Some of our new products are various fillets, eviscerated fish, cleaned and curled cephalopods, salted fish, marinated fish, deep frozen fish, etc.

Further more we can supply our customers with high quality fish from aquaculture (sea bream and sea bass).
